Junior drum corps requires that members be 22 years of age or younger. After "aging-out", many performers become members of senior drum corps.

Most junior drum corps are members of Drum Corps International and compete in DCI Division I, DCI Division II, or DCI Division III. In the past, these corps classifictions were Open Class, A-Class, A-60 Class and All-Girl, respectfully. In Canada, there were the added classification of B-Class and Parade corps.
