Joe Kalady ( -2002) was publisher of Drum Corps World magazine throughout most of the 1960s, and introduced color photography to that publication. He produced a number of Chicago parades and a popular hour-long Chicago-area drum corps radio broadcast in the 1960s. He also produced and hosted the legendary 1965 Symphony in Brass standstill concert at Chicago's Civic Opera House, with Sig Sakowicz as announcer. (Recordings of this have been collector items for decades.) Kalady later descended into a life of crime and at the time of his death in 2002 was imprisoned and accused of murder in Cook County, Illinois.[1]
