Sal Leone

Dr. Sal Leone has been with the Seattle Cascades since 1994. Originally serving as a parent volunteer in the booster club, Sal served on its board as vice president and president from 1994 to 2000. In 1998 he accepted the role of executive director, overseeing both the gambling operation and the corps’ program services.

In 2000 he assumed the role of corps director. Dr. Leone has been instrumental in promoting many changes within the organization and looks forward to the challenges that lie ahead. Under his direction the new millennium has brought a new look, style and attitude within the Cascades organization. Dr. Leone has a dental degree from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in periodontics from the University of Washington. He served as an assistant professor at the UW from 1985 until 1991. He is currently the CEO of Silver Lake Winery and maintains a private practice in periodontics in Everett, WA.

Sal understands the important role that music education plays in teaching young people life-long skills. He attributes the success in his adult life to the education he received in high school band and the role model provided by his music teacher. Dr. Leone is committed to the drum corps activity because of its unique ability to teach the value of community resulting from a year-long effort striving for excellence through competition.

Sal has 4 children, 3 of which have competed with the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle as members, section leaders, and drum major.

On March 6, 2006 Dr. Leone submitted his resignation from the post of executive director of the Cascades.
