Pioneer
Pioneer is a drum corps based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The corps is a member of Drum Corps International and competes in DCI Division I. Pioneer is directed by John-Michael Hines.
History
The corps was founded in 1953 as The Thunderbolts.
In 1973, the Imperials of St. Patrick and Thunderbolts Drum & Bugle Corps merged to form a new corps initially called "The Thing."
In 1974 the corps was re-named name Pioneer in honour of the Pioneer Container Corporation which became the corps' sponsor that year.
The corps has had a successful run in the local Drum Corps Midwest (DCM) competition circuit as well as DCI Divisions II and III. In 1997, Pioneer achieved DCI Division I status.
Philosophy
- "Better Every Day" is a philosophy that has served the Pioneer well for over a decade. Through this we promote personal growth, teamwork, and accepting challenges in a positive manner.
