Impulse is a competitive junior drum corps from southern California, based in Buena Park. The corps competes in Drum Corps International Division II/III.

History

Impulse was founded in the winter of 1998 by Velvet Knight Alumni who desired to re-organize the Velvet Knights after it's demise the year prior, but found too many negative obstacles with the IRS, Boy Scouts of America and many school districts, standing in their way. But the desire to carry on the showmanship traditions and spirit of the Velvet Knights gave birth to a new name and a new corps...IMPULSE. This name was inspired by the spirit and nature of their beloved Velvet Knights.

In their first competitive season in 1999, many show promoters wanted Impulse on their line ups, because they knew audiences wanted that brand of drum corps. Since then, Impulse has grown in popularity and competitively placing in Div II/III finals the last 4 years and winning the Div III DCI World Champion Crown in 2006.

Impulse is looking to continue their trend of success by continuing to live by their philosophy of financial responsibility, quality teaching and superior performance excellence.

It is said among their ranks that "The quality goes in the show before the baseball cap goes on their heads".
