For twelve years Dan performed with six various Midwest Drum and Bugle Corps, the last six years dedicated to playing tenors in the Madison Scouts from Madison, Wisconsin. With the Scouts, he toured California and various destinations in Europe, winning the 1988 DCI World Championships. He frequently performed in the individual Quad competition at DCI (often placing in the top 5), and was the 1992 Drum Corps Midwest Champion.

While attending the University of North Texas, Dan performed with many of the campus ensembles, including the percussion ensemble, wind symphony and symphonic band, African and Brazilian ensembles as well as the steel drum band. He has studied with many excellent instructors, including Dr. Robert Schietroma, Ron Fink, Ed Soph, Jeff Prosperie, Paul Rennick, Dave Gluck, Tom Float, and Ralph Hardimon - to name just a few!

During his time at UNT, Dan performed with the highly acclaimed North Texas Drum Line. With Dan playing Quads each year, the drum line won the Percussive Arts Society World Championship in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993 and 1994. UNT won the Best Quad line award in 1989, 1990 and 1995. In 1991, Dan was awarded the Quad Solo Champion during PASIC competitions held in Anaheim, California. In 1996, Dan was on the UNT staff when the North Texas Drum Line won the 10th PASIC World Championship, including Best Quad Line.

As an educator, Dan taught the Madison Scouts Drum Line from 1993 to 2003 under Jeff Moore and James Yakas. Many members of the Scouts performed individual solos during this time, including Jeremy Kunkel, the 1994 DCI Tenor Drum Champion.

Continuing his career as an educator, Dan was the drum line arranger and instructor for the University of Central Florida from 2000 to 2003. With UCF, the line traveled to Georgia Tech, Alabama, Virginia Tech, Clemson and also performed at the Superdome in New Orleans.

Currently, Dan is continuing his education at UNT. He is also a clinician and private lesson instructor at Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville Texas, under Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps percussion caption head Jeff Ausdemore. Since returning to CHHS in 2004, the Quad line has won the best Quad Line section award at the Plano, and LoneStare drumline competition every year. Dan also maintains a full time time job as supervisor at Barnes and Noble, Children's Department.
