Junior drum corps require that members be 22 years of age or younger. After "aging-out", many performers become members of senior drum corps.

Most junior drum corps are members of Drum Corps International and compete in DCI World Class or DCI Open Class. In the past, these corps classifictions were Division I, Division II, Division III, and All-Girl. In Canada, there were the added classifications of D- Class (also known as Stand Still), C-Class, B-Class and Parade corps.
