[edit] New VK (2006)
Moved from the article. --Sam King 12:46, 19 October 2006 (PDT)
- First of ALL. THE NEW VK is NOT a reorganization of the originally chartered Velvet Knight Drum & :Bugle Corps from 1963. It is not organized by the same founders or endorsed by them. It is an attempt :to convince fans that this is something it is not. This New organization is using variations of the :former Corps Identity for their personal gain and to fool fans and alumni
- Many individuals over the years many people from different states, have inquired about starting A VK :or Velvet Knights. Some were alumni, some were not. This attempt is no different. It should be :regarded as "semi alumni copy" of the former VK and nothing more.
- Respectfully, VK Alumni 80-85, Staff 78,89,90 Co-Founder Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps.
...
- The Original Charter still exists and == any attempts by people to call themselves a reorganization of VK is purely Fraud. ==

If we consider Impulse to be related to the original Velvet Knights, we must also consider VK to be related to them. They should both stay or both go. --Sam King 11:09, 18 November 2006 (PST)
[edit] References to the New VK
As there are valid objections to having references to VK in the Velvet Knights article (they are two different corps), references to VK will be removed from this article. If there is significant information it may be merged with the VK article or talk:VK. --Sam King 23:55, 7 December 2006 (PST)
- I am not going to remove the references to Impulse and VK from the article text for the moment, if only to avoid an edit war. Nevertheless they are not currently relevant to this article when articles exist about these corps already. When there is some sort of statement about whether VK will be using the Velvet Knights name then things can be cleared up. --Sam King 09:40, 5 March 2007 (PST)
- I do believe it says "Velvet Knights".
- They are now apparently the Velvet Knights and the article now reflects that. Someone ambitious could see to merging the VK article into the Velvet Knights article. Oh yes, and please sign your posts in talk pages. Thank you and good night. --Sam King 18:49, 14 May 2007 (PDT)
[edit] External Links
I have moved the external links for Impulse to that article and made a link to the impulse article. I think a lot of the material in the "Legacy" subsection belongs there as well, but I will leave that to another editor. --Sam King 18:45, 14 May 2007 (PDT)
[edit] New/Old VK
Personally, I think that the two articles should be kept separate. While I applaud the VK organization for their intent of bringing back the spirit of VK, something lacking in DCI since they folded (although Impulse and Jersey Surf have attempted that, I feel that they're still different enough), since they do not seem to be an actual reorganization of the corps, but rather a startup corps looking to carry on the legacy, we should keep them separate. In my opinion, the best way to do this would be to make "Velvet Knights" into a disambiguation page with links to "Velvet Knights (1963)" and "Velvet Knights (2006)." Joe K 13:24, 4 June 2007 (PDT)
