Rec.arts.marching.drumcorps
More commonly known as RAMD, rec.arts.marching.drumcorps is a Usenet group focused on the discussion of drum & bugle corps. First appearing in 1992, it is widely considered to have reached its peak of popularity during 1998 through 2001. Today it along with the rest of Usenet has lost popularity with the advent of more easily accessed message boards, like Drum Corps Planet and Sound Machine. Most recently its lack of a method of moderating posts has made it prone to many off-topic and sometimes offensive posts. It is nonetheless an on-line source of drum corps information and history. It gave out annual awards to members and other drum corps sites called gRAMDies from 1996 through 2002. While many regular contributors have come and gone, Vince Lamb is considered to be an individual responsible for much of the activity on RAMD.
