Pioneer
From DrumCorpsWiki
Pioneer is a drum corps based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The corps is a member of Drum Corps International and competes in DCI World Class. Pioneer is directed by Roman Blenski.
[edit] History
The corps was founded in 1953 as The Thunderbolts.
In 1973, the Imperials of St. Patrick and Thunderbolts Drum & Bugle Corps merged to form a new corps initially called "The Thing."
In 1974 the corps was re-named name Pioneer in honor of the Pioneer Container Corporation, which became the corps' sponsor that year.
The corps has had a successful run in the local Drum Corps Midwest (DCM) competition circuit as well as DCI Divisions II and III. Pioneer was the 1991 Division III Champion, the 1994 Division II/III champions, and the 1995 Division II champions. In 1997, Pioneer achieved DCI Division I status.
