Golden Crusaders

The Golden Crusaders Drum and Bugle corps were a junior drum corps[1] from Southington/Meriden Connecticut.

Owned and operated by Mr. Donna and Mr Kelly. The corp broke up in 1975. They competed in the Northeast Circut and won that championship at least once.
The show "Thunder in Motion" was an annual event held in Meriden, Connecticut each summer and sponsored by the Golden Crusaders. Some of the corps competing in this show were the Stateliners of Greenwich, CT. The Surfers of New London, CT. The Colonades of Fairfield, Ct. The Buccaneers of Bridgeport, CT. The Fire-Etts of Norwich, CT. The Stafford Springs Crusaders of Stafford Springs, CT. The Centurions of Enfield, Ct. The Ambassadors of Willimantic, Ct. The Classics from East Haven, Ct. The Troubadours of Bridgeport, Ct.
The Golden Crusaders won many awards in competion which included parades, exhibitions, and shows. At their peak they fielded approximately 100 members including a full color guard sporting flags, rifles with an honor guard. A horn section with bugles, melophones, and bass with contra bass. A drum section with snare, bass, double bass, tim-toms, and tympani.
