Erie Thunderbirds

The Erie Thunderbirds are a senior drum corps principally performing as a parade corps and a mini corps based in Erie, Pennsylvania.

- The corps was formed as a parade corps in 1956 as a parade corps under the name Thunderbirds.
- The corps merged with the Shoreliners in 1968 to form the Erie Thunderbirds, a competitive corps performing field shows.
- Members of the Red Carpet Association RCA 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978.
- RCA Champions 1973, 1974 tied, 1976, 1978
- In 1976 the Thunderbirds placed 8th in the Drum Corps Associates Championships
- In 1979 the corps placed 8th in the DCA Championships.
- In 1984 the corps became inactive.
- In 1991 former members and other drum corps enthusiasts re-formed the corps.
- In 1993 the corps returned to DCA competition as a mini corps in the first such DCA competition. The corps placed 1st, and went on to capture the title for the next 3 years. The corps also took the title in 1998 and 2002.
- In 1995 the Thunderbirds recorded a perfect score of 100 in winning the DCA Mini Corps Championship. The judges also awarded an additional 5 point bonus, making this the highest score ever recorded in a DCA sanctioned competition.
