A Drum Major only retreat utilizes only the drum majors to receive the scores and awards. Full corps do not appear on the field in these retreats. This sort of retreat is done when a full retreat is impractical due to field conditions such as rain.

Since the 2004 DCI circuit shows that were not regional or national championships have Drum Major only retreats by circuit rules as a time-saving measure for touring corps.
