The Caballeros are a Senior Drum Corps that competes with Drum Corps Associates (DCA). They are based out of Hawthorne, New Jersey. The organization also sponsors the Caballeros Alumni Drum Corps.
The Caballeros were organized in 1946 by Jim Costello. The corps at the time was mostly made up of past members of the Junior Drum Corps St. George Cadets.
Latin-style music has been the corps' chosen genre over the years. More, please!
The Caballeros' uniform, or costume, consists of a black sombrero, a white satin shirt with bloused sleeves, a bright red satin sash, and black bell bottom pants with large red pleats.
The Cabs are the only corps to have ever been sent on a "mission" by the US State Department, having been sent to Cuba in 1958 as musical ambassadors. (The Cabs were first invited in 1951, but becasue of prior commitment they had to decline.)
Also, the Cabs are listed as a "Local Treasure" in the Library of Congress.
They've gone undefeated in five seasons, two of them, 1984 and 1985, consecutively, and have won the DCA World Championship nine times, most recently in 2003.
