[edit] Theme & Design

The show followed a standard drum corps show form, with a fast opener, ballad, percussion feature and closer. Each piece represented a different aspect of human nature: the fast, technical opener as the mind, the emotional, dance-enfused ballad as body, and the jazzy, driving percussion feature as spirit.

The show began with the hornline and guard facing the back of the field. Amidst a flurry of pit percussion, the trumpet section, broken into several "choirs," turned to the front of the field th introduce the main theme of the show, the Doxology hymn. The piece built into a fortissimo impact and continued with fast, rhythmic music, features for different sections of the hornline, and a fugue, emphasizing the intellectual aspects of music. The opener was original played at a tempo of 168 beats per minute but was increased to 176 BPM before the Indianapolis regional.
